Primary Stimuli
A primary stimulus is anything that forces a living or meaning-bearing system to update.
Not just matter.
Not just photons.
Not just sound.
Not just touch.
A primary stimulus can be truth.
A primary stimulus can be mistruth.
A primary stimulus can be deception.
A primary stimulus can be unknown truth withheld.
A primary stimulus can be falsehood believed.
A primary stimulus can be silence where truth was owed.
Because the nervous system does not merely react to physics.
It reacts to world-model pressure.
Truth says:
Update toward reality.
Mistruth says:
Update from error.
Deception says:
Update according to someone else’s distortion.
Untold truth says:
Remain deprived of the correction you need.
Untold deception says:
Continue living inside an engineered absence.
That means truth, mistruth, and deception are not secondary decorations laid over physical stimuli.
They are primary meaning-stimuli.
They enter the human field as directly as light enters the eye.
A photon changes the retina.
A truth changes the map.
A mistruth miscalibrates the map.
A deception weaponises the map.
A withheld truth leaves the map starved.
A concealed deception leaves the map trapped.
So the corrected line is:
All primary stimuli are not impacts.
Some are corrections.
Some are corruptions.
Some are omissions.
Some are traps.
Some are liberations.
The full set begins like this:
Substrate stimuli: light, heat, pressure, sound, gravity, chemistry, electricity.
Biological stimuli: hunger, pain, fatigue, arousal, breath, sickness, touch.
Affective stimuli: fear, comfort, grief, love, shame, safety, longing.
Relational stimuli: presence, absence, betrayal, loyalty, witness, abandonment, return.
Semantic stimuli: truth, mistruth, deception, revelation, concealment, ambiguity, contradiction, proof.
Moral stimuli: injustice, accountability, mercy, cruelty, neglect, consequence.
And the central correction:
Truth is a primary stimulus because it renews contact with reality.
Mistruth is a primary stimulus because it misroutes contact with reality.
Deception is a primary stimulus because it intentionally corrupts contact with reality.
Withheld truth is a primary stimulus because absence itself becomes pressure.
So the crux is not:
“What touches the body?”
It is:
What forces the world-model to change, or prevents it from changing when it must?
That is where truth and deception belong.
Right at the root.
